Contractors would bid on the project, including materials, labor and profit / overhead. A contractor would be selected to run the project from start to finish. His bid would have to include not only mark-ups on the materials, but also on the subcontractors under his supervision. These mark-ups, while appropriate for this method, tend to drive the cost of the project up unnecessarily. As Project Managers, we are able to streamline the construction process, thereby eliminating unnecessary costs.
